Business show awards nomination for designer

Samkeol Deon Nxumalo was nominated as a result of his passion and love for a unique style.

The Next Billionaire is a weekly show based on educating and profiling businesses, and this year the show has featured many young South Coast entrepreneurs.

Founded in 2016, the show hosts an annual awards ceremony to recognise business excellence by honouring enterprises that strive for economic growth, job creation, success and innovation.

Samkelo Deon Nxumalo of Deon Zuider Designs was nominated in the Clothing and Textile category among other locals in various business and entrepreneurship sectors.

“I’m excited to be recognised as one of the nominees in this prestigious show and awards ceremony. This is the first of many nominations to come and I’m so grateful that my work is being recognised at different levels,” said Nxumalo.

He said he has been in the industry since 2014, and it is a journey which he does not regret having taken.

“It all started with the love and passion I have for fashion. I always had a unique sense of fashion and wanted to wear certain clothes, but didn’t know where to find them. That is when I decided to learn to sew so I could make my own garments. People started liking my style and that’s how I started getting clients,” Nxumalo explained.

He said one of the biggest challenges had to be the Covid pandemic.

“I though it was the end of my business, but by God’s grace and loyal clients I managed to survive.

“Being able to build a good relationship with clients and gaining their trust is the key to my success. Meeting deadlines and making sure the clients are happy, and that they get their garments on time is another secret. There’s nothing worse than a client not getting their garment at the agreed time and date,” Nxumalo added.

The awards will be held at the Wild Coast Sun on Thursday, November 3. The community can SMS TNB 10 to 31051 to vote for Nxumalo.
