Man nabbed with drugs at Durban mall

The 46-year-old was believed to be transporting drugs around the Durban North area.

Ashwin Jugnandan (46) was arrested for possession of drugs at Cornubia Mall in Durban last Thursday.

The Hawks from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation and Metro Police Drug Team received information about a suspect who was transporting drugs around the Durban North area and an intelligence-driven operation was conducted.

Police spokesperson Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said he was spotted at the mall and his vehicle was searched.

Police found 500g of pure cocaine powder and mandrax tablets with a street value of about R204 750.

Jugnandan was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of drugs, as well as dealing in drugs.

He appeared in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court last Friday.
