Temples observe Navaratri prayer

Navaratri is a nine night celebration of Maa Durga, the Hindu Mother Goddess.

The Hindu festival, Navaratri is celebrated in late September/early October each year.

The dates are determined according to the lunar calendar. On the South Coast various temples will be observing the festival.

The Hibiscus Coast Navaratri Committee will be hosting its annual Navaratri Puja and urges new, current and preceding devotees to join in solidarity and participate in the daily Puja and Hawan.

Dates of Puja to be conducted are from Monday, September 26 to Tuesday, October 4 from 17:30 for 18:00 weekdays and 14.30 for 15:00 on weekends.

The venue is the Hi-Land International Conference Centre at 1 Ravine Lane, Main Harding Road, Port Shepstone. Safe and ample parking will be available on site.

Puja will be conducted with the guidance of Pundit Minraj Sadgopte. Visarjan to be performed on Wednesday, October 5. Venue to be announced.

Shree Raam Narayan Temple

The Shree Raam Narayan Temple Society will observe its Navaratri prayer from September 26. The officiating priest will be Pundit Peeush Krishna Kumar Mishra.

Sri Saraswathi Pooja will be observed on October 3 at 18:00 and learners are requested to bring their school books. Vijay Dashmi will be observed on October 5. For further information contact Singh Samsunder on 083 3008382.

Umbango Temple

The Umbango Sri Siva Soobramoniar Temple invites all to its Purtassi Prayer this Saturday (24th). Hawan will start at 15:00 followed by service in praise of Lord Venkateswara, prasadam will be served.

The temple will also be observing its annual Navarathri prayers from Monday, September 26 until Tuesday, October 4.

Prayer times are: Monday, September 26 till Tuesday, October 4, the prayer will start at 18:30 and on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2 at 18:00, prasadam will be served daily.

The temple will observe its annual Maha Saraswathi prayer on Tuesday, October 4 at 18:00 followed by a special service and tying of the strings by Gurukul.

Devotees are welcome to contribute towards the daily obeyams .The temple will be observing its Jhunda prayer on Sunday, October 2, hawan starts at 09:00 and the main prayer at 10:00.

Navagara Mahayanem will be observed on Sunday, October 9 from 09:00. The temple invites all to its Raam Bhajan Prayer on Saturday, October 15. Hawan and prayer will begin at 15:00.
