WATCH: ‘No power for 3 months!’ – Oshabeni residents take to the streets

At the time of writing, the road was closed as residents await the arrival of relevant authorities to address them.

Hundreds of residents at Oshabeni (near Port Shepstone) braved the cold weather and blocked the Old St Faith’s Road this morning.

They are demanding Eskom replace a burnt transformer.

According to the residents it has been three months since they last had power.

A protest leader, Msa Gxabhashe, said they have been trying to talk to Eskom, but have received no answers.

“Eskom is playing with our lives. How can you survive three months without electricity? What’s happening now is that businesses are struggling and people are getting mugged. They need to fix this mess.”

At the time of writing, the road was closed as residents await the arrival of relevant authorities to address them.
