Ugu Broadcasting Services in partnership with Umuziwabantu and Ray Nkonyeni local municipalities launched the second annual Maskandi Music Festival, last Friday.

It takes place at Ugu Sports and Leisure on October 1 from 10:00 till late.

The launch was attended by Umziwabantu mayor, Siboniso Zungu and former uKhozi FM Maskandi presenter Ngizwe Mchunu who shared their excitement about the upcoming festival.

After last year’s successful inaugural event in Harding, Ugu Broadcasting Services Siyabonga Mkhungo said: “We are excited to once again host this event as we believe we are on the way to establishing a household event that will become a part of the Ugu District culture for many more years to come.”

The event is set to feature some of the best acts from around the coast and country, such as Ntencane, Big Zulu, Khuzani, the legendary Phuzekemisi who will be supported by Duncan, Zakwe and many more.

It will also cater to local artists who will make up a mega 70% of the festival’s line up.

Mkhungo added that events of this nature and magnitude strive to ensure that locals stand to benefit most with temporary job creation.

“This also extends to local suppliers and service providers,” he added.
