Community supports campaign to keep Scottburgh beautiful

Locals united to clean the beach and do other activities.

The Keep Scottburgh Beautiful campaign has been officially launched in the town.

Part of the recent launch festivities at Scottburgh main beach included the community uniting for a beach clean-up, 15 coconut trees were planted and a special organic photo frame positioned at the beach, was unveiled.

The frame, which has the words #BeautifulScottburgh on it, is made up of driftwood collected after the April flood, and allows for fantastic photo opportunities at the beach while promoting the Keep Scottburgh Beautiful campaign.

This campaign was produced by the Keep Scottburgh Beautiful NPO which has placed two full-time staff in the Scottburgh central business district, to collect litter and tidy the gardens along Scott Street.

The NPO has also appointed full-time security to ensure the safety of beachgoers.

“I am exceptionally proud of the support and appreciation the NPO is receiving from the community,” said Shane Grant, Keep Scottburgh Beautiful’s chairman.

“We have big ambitions which can only be achieved if we all work together, and if last Saturday’s event was anything to go by, I have no reason to believe we won’t succeed!”
