When emergency services arrived, they found that three vehicles had been involved in a collision.

Craig Botha of Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service said paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that one person had sustained critical injuries, two others had sustained serious injuries, and two more had sustained minor injuries.

The patients were treated on scene before being transported to hospital.
Botha said the cause of the accident is unknown, but authorities are investigating.
