Sheppie Hawks nail Verulam drug dealer

The case dates back to 2023.

Issa Robin (29) was sentenced for dealing in drugs at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court last Thursday due to the efforts of the Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation.

Members acted on information regarding an alleged drug dealer who was selling narcotics to learners and members of the surrounding community in Verulam on October 10, 2023.

Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Sibu Ncane said members conducted an intelligence-driven operation, leading to Robin’s arrest, who was found in possession of a quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of R14 820.

He was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs. He appeared in court several times and was sentenced last week to six months direct imprisonment, of which two months was suspended for five years.

The KZN Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona, welcomed the sentence and commended the members for the good work.
