Police have issued the following safety tips to potentially avoid becoming a victim of crime:
*Avoid seeking help from strangers.
*Refrain from displaying money in public.
*Do not ask for directions from strangers, rather seek help from a law enforcement officer.
*Ensure the safety of your personal belongings such as handbags and wallets, do not leave your handbag in the trolley when shopping.
*Always be aware of your surroundings and be extra vigilant when carrying large sums of money to deposit at the bank or make withdrawals.
*Watch to see if you are being followed. Try not to be alone, but have someone trustworthy with you. If possible, use electronic banking services.
*Avoid leaving strange links open on your phone or computer.
*Avoid giving personal information to strangers.
