Keep your stock safe

Report all stock theft crimes to your local police.

Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis, has issued out several tip to help individuals avoid stock theft.

This entails erecting and maintaining good animal pens/kraals. People are also advised to keep a large dog near livestock, to deter would be criminals and warn you of strangers.
People should try to install solar sensor lights that would come on with the movement of approaching criminals and perhaps consider the establishment of a neighbourhood watch.

“Brandmark your livestock according to the Animal Identification Act and cooperate and work closely with the local Saps and Stock Theft Units,” he said.

Lastly, remember to report all stock theft incidents immediately to the police.
