Cops arrest ‘housebreaker’

Harding's station commander urged communities to report illegal weapons to the police.

A man (26) behaving suspiciously was found with a pistol, 14 rounds of live ammunition and a knife.
Saps Harding Task team members were performing patrols in the Harding CBD last Friday night when they spotted the man.

He was also sought for possession of stolen property and was arrested.
Police spokesperson Captain Petros Mpinge said he will appear in the Harding Magistrate’s Court for charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition on October 4.

Other charges may be added. He remains in police custody.

Station commander of Saps Harding, Lieutenant-Colonel Bhekuyise Khanyile is pleased with the arrest and recovery of the firearm, emphasising the importance of removing guns off the street.

He urged communities to report illegal weapons to the police.
