Police arrested a 26-year old Uvongo man after receiving a domestic violence complaint involving the use of a firearm last Sunday.
The man was arrested and charged with assault under domestic violence, as well as possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as he failed to produce a firearm licence.
Saps Margate Drug Task team with the assistance of a well-known security company responded to the complaint in Uvongo.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sibu Ncane said police requested permission to search the premises, and a rifle with 11 rounds of ammunition was found.
The man appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court this week.
