Drug dealer arrested

Communities encouraged to report crime activities that are taking place in their areas.

Margate police arrested a 30-year-old man in Uvongo recently for possession of heroin capsules. This arrest led police to more drugs being recovered.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sibu Ncane said the Margate Drug Task Team received information that a man was going to deliver drugs in the Uvongo area.

“Police responded swiftly and strategically in the area and spotted the suspect. On searching him, police found heroin capsules in his possession. Information led police to another area, eNkunini in Bhobhoyi where more drugs were recovered.”

Drugs were confiscated by police and the 30-year-old man was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs.

He appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on Monday last week and the case was postponed for further investigation.

Margate station commander, Brigadier William Slabbert applauded the officers for their swift arrest. He also thanked and encouraged the members of the community to report any crime activities that are taking place in their respective areas.
