Man fatally stabbed at taxi rank

The victim initially tried to stop a fight at the rank.

A man who tried to tried to stop a fight between two men at the Umzinto taxi rank was instead stabbed to death last Sunday afternoon around 17:00,

According to police, a 34-year-old man standing nearby noticed the fight and tried approaching the men with the intention to stop the fight.

Instead one of the men who was part of the fight ended up stabbing him and fled the scene on foot.

“The victim succumbed to his injuries on the scene,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.
Umzinto Saps is investigating and Captain Vanitha Naicker, the Detective Branch Commander can be contacted on 039 9746500 with information that can lead to an arrest.

The police also requests the public to report criminal activities and suspicious behaviour to the nearest Saps or Crime Stop on 086 0010111. You may ask to remain anonymous.
