According to local police, thieves are now using different ways and means of committing crime, therefore an urgent appeal is made to the public to adhere to the following tips to prevent becoming a victim.
Do not confirm your personal/OTP/ ID password details or give any details to any person who is purporting that he is from the bank, SARS or any institution.
Do not pay or make a deposit for items that you did not inspect which is advertised online.
When doing online shopping ensure that you are dealing with a reputable online company.
Do not hold ‘conversations’ and ‘shake hands’ with strangers in public places as they have an agenda to distract and to rob you.
Lastly, never allow any person outside retail stores to keep your belongings while you are shopping.
