Police recover hijacked truck

The hijackers have not been caught as yet.

A truck was hijacked on the N2 near Park Rynie last Monday morning.

“It is alleged by the driver that while he was driving on the southern carriageway with two others, he was signalled by two men with guns in a red VW Polo to pull over,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.

Five suspects got out of the vehicle and two of them pulled the driver out of the truck. However, he was able to evade the criminals.

“The driver then managed to flag down another truck that belongs to the same company for assistance on the opposite side of the freeway.”

After police were alerted to the incident and through investigations, they were able to locate the hijacked truck in Malangeni on the same day, but the goods were looted.

The perpetrators are still on the run.

Should anyone have information which may assist with arrests, contact Scottburgh detective service on 039 9781900 or Crime Stop on 086 0010111.
The Saps also appeals to the public to report criminal activities and suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station.
