Truck driver hijacked near Mtwalume

A bag was placed over the truck driver's head.

A truck driver was hijacked while travelling southbound on the N2 Freeway near Mtwalume last week Wednesday at 06:00.

Captain Petros Mpinge said it’s alleged the driver was held up by two men in a red vehicle, who aimed firearms at him, forcing him to pull over.

“A bag was placed over his head and he was bundled into the boot of the car. They drove away and transferred him into another vehicle, a grey sedan, and then left him on the side of the road with the truck, after offloading some of its cargo,” said Mpinge.

The driver made his way to Hibberdene police station where he reported the case.

Hibberdene police are investigating a case of hijacking. The truck was impounded at the vehicle crime investigation unit for further investigation.
