Gunmen shoot dead taxi passenger

One person was fatally shot and two others injured.

A case of murder and attempted murder is being investigated by Scottburgh Saps after a shooting at Cele Location last week.

According to police, a taxi driver was en-route to Dududu around 15:30 on August 24 when he was instructed to stop by occupants of a bakkie.

“After the driver stopped, three men armed with firearms opened the door and shot at a passenger,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.

“The 31-year-old passenger succumbed to his injuries at the scene.”

Two other male passengers (aged 30 and 31) were also injured and treated by paramedics.

They were then transported to GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottburgh for further medical attention.

Should anyone have information on this case, contact Detective Warrant Officer Njabulo Latha of Scottburgh Detective Service on 039 9781900 or Crime Stop on 086 0010111.

“An appeal is made to the public by Scottburgh Saps to report all criminal activities and suspicious behaviour to the nearest Saps or Crime Stop,” added Captain Francis.
