Man in court for theft of R4.2-m

For two years the accountant allegedly stole money from the business.

Prenel Beharry (39) of Port Shepstone is facing 739 counts of theft amounting to R4.2-m.

Beharry’s wife, Manish Byroo (40) is also facing charges of theft.

Beharry worked as an accountant for a civil engineering company in Paddock.

During 2018 and 2020 he allegedly transferred money, without permission, into Byroo’s personal banking accounts.

He was arrested in June 2020.

Beharry, who is currently out on bail, will return to Izingolweni Regional Court on October 7 for a pre-trial conference.

He is represented by Roy Singh and Associates from Durban.
