Array of amenities at new sports and leisure centre

The grand opening festivities culminated in an evening of music and dance, creating a vibrant and joyous atmosphere.

The Umdoni Point Coastal Forest Estate proudly celebrated the grand opening of the Umdoni Point Sports & Leisure Centre in Pennington last Friday.

This event marked a significant milestone for the estate, showcasing the culmination of years of meticulous planning and dedicated effort.

The ceremony began with the ribbon-cutting, a symbolic act performed by the visionary developer, Paul Tedder, alongside Umdoni Municipality Mayor Mbali Cele-Luthuli.

Their participation underscored the importance of this new addition in the community and highlighted the collaborative spirit that brought this project to fruition.

The mayor was very pleased with this development and said that she hopes this beautiful new facility will attract a lot of investors to the area.

“We have such a high rate of unemployment, and this has helped open new doors,” she said. “I am very happy with what our community has gained.”

Paul Tedder, along with his dedicated team comprising Gina Tedder, Sean Willis and Nico Smith, have worked tirelessly with an array of talented professionals to create a haven of leisure and enjoyment for residents and visitors alike.

The centre offers an impressive array of amenities designed to cater to diverse interests and promote a healthy, active lifestyle. Guests can indulge in fine dining at Kayla Ann’s. For sports enthusiasts, the centre boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a cutting-edge gym, two pickleball courts, two bowling greens and two padel courts featuring KZN’s first retractable roof.

Additionally, there are two jukskei courts, two boule courts and a half-size Olympic swimming pool, complete with luxurious steam room, sauna and ice bath facilities.

Families will appreciate the inclusion of two restaurants and a dedicated children’s play area, ensuring that every member of the community has something to enjoy.

The event was attended by Dave Guselli from East Coast Radio, who not only spent the evening with the attendees but also kicked off the next day with a live broadcast from the Umdoni Point Sports & Leisure Centre.

The celebrations continued into Saturday, offering guests the opportunity to experience all the facilities free of charge. This gesture of goodwill allowed everyone to fully appreciate the exceptional amenities and the welcoming community atmosphere that Umdoni Point strives to cultivate.

Overall, the opening was a resounding success, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the estate’s history.
