Margate golfers remember Graham

The club has had a busy week, with various competitions being played.

The Scowby golf day, in memory of Graham, was held at Margate Country Club last Saturday and won by Barend Joubert and Arthur Ehlert on 49 points. Runners-up were Bob Weyer and Colin Penny on 48 points. In third place on 47 points were Suzette Olivier and Lesley Erasmus.

Pierre Malherbe won the 100-Club last Tuesday on 44 points, with Danie Muller and Johann Erasmus tied for second on 39 points. The ladies played the Nassau Fan Draw last Tuesday, which was won by Glynis van Lill on 42 points. Out winner was Lesley Erasmus on 22 points, with In winner being Cathy Meyer on 19 points.

The Uvongo Tennis Club fundraiser on Women’s Day (August 9) was won by Craig Rademan and Derek Egerton on 49 points. Runners-up were Kevin Oxenham and Allan Halverson on 44 points, with Kim and Dawn Howden next on 43 points. Carlos Pereira and Graeme Massam followed them on 40 points.

The Wobblers teed it up as usual last Wednesday. Winners were Rod O’Farrell, Johan Human and Marcus Donovan on 91 points.

Runners-up on 82 points were Alan Davies, Brian Jefferys and Eddie Gommersall. Third place went to Dave Hepworth, Freddie Boshoff and John Ford on 80 points.
The Arthur Tomlinson Floater, on 66 points, went to John Ford, Freddie Boshoff and Wimpie Jordaan.

The Meat Comp last Thursday was won by Danie Muller on 41 points, with Eddy Roux next on 39 points.
