The community played its part by providing Saps with vital info, enabling them to make an arrest.

The community of Margate is thanked for reporting criminals and drug activities.

Spokesman Sergeant Sibu Ncane said this was vital, and one way of cleaning up communities. “It makes them safer as many crimes are being perpetrated when people are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.”

Information provided to Margate police recently led to the arrest of a man (57) for being in possession of drugs, and dealing in drugs. He was duly charged. Ncane said Saps had received the valuable information and was able to acting on it immediately.

They searched a residence in Lionel Avenue, Margate Extension 3 (on July 15) and found a number of small plastics containing crystal meth, one block suspected to be rock cocaine and mandrax powder.

The man appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on these charges and the case was postponed.
