New Rotary club president Mike takes helm

The club remains committed to collaboration, leveraging partnerships, and engaging with the community to create lasting change.

Mike Macrae is the new president of the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast. He was inducted as president at a function held at Stephward Estate in Uvongo recently, along with the appointment of a board of directors.

With their collective commitment and years of experience, the club is poised to continue making a significant difference in the community for years to come.

Mike is a retired mechanical engineer, having spent most of his working career in the management of maintenance and operations in the petrochemical environment.

He is married to Kay and they have three children and two grandchildren. They have both been involved with various charity work and joined Rotary in early 2019.

Assistant District Governor Rowan D’Arcy said members are thrilled to have Mike at the helm, leading the club into a year of incredible service and community impact.

“His dedication, passion, and commitment to Rotary’s values are truly inspiring”.

Over the past decades, the Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast has left an indelible mark in the community through various impactful projects and initiatives.

Immediate Past President Cathy de Boer, in her closing statement, thanked the members and friends of Rotary for their unwavering support during her time as president and reminded them about the many achievements of their hard work.

Cathy also presented five recipients with a Paul Harris recognition.

The 2023/24 Rotary Club of Hibiscus Coast board members are Mike Macrae (president), Gaylyn Gregory (membership recruitment and retention director), George Henderson (club service director), Cathy de Boer (youth director), Lorraine Robert (treasurer), Wilma Lig (public image director), Brenda Blumrick (foundation and international director), Brian Blumrick (community service director), Dubretha Oosthuizen (secretary and flea market director) and Simon Shusha (vocational service director).Paul Harris Recognition recipients were Elise Airey, Anne Thompson, Lorraine Robert and Rajan Robert.
