Pageant finalist aims to empower and inspire

The pageant finals will be on October 28.

Nonkululeko Madondo, also known as Dr Angiyukweswela, is a well-known KZN influencer who has just become one of the finalists in the Mrs Grand South Africa pageant.

The pageant is a platform for married/divorced and widowed women to rediscover their personality, their own strengths and most importantly, prove that it is not impossible to be a homemaker and still lead a life with purpose.

She entered this pageant with the aim to help ‘thick’ and ‘chubby’ women around South Africa boost their confidence and self-esteem and to show them they should never limit themselves, regardless of how they look.

Nonkululeko is a Ladysmith local who has impacted the lives of people around the province, not just with her charisma and multiple talents, but also through her non-profit, Angiyukweswela Therapy Foundation which focuses on gender equality, assisting men who have been victims of abuse and couples coaching programmes.
She has done a lot of non-profit work in the mid-South Coast area and has established great relationships with the locals.

Around November last year, Nonkululeko offered her services to Scottburgh locals and worked closely with another local NPO, Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery. Ever since then, she has grown extremely fond of the area.
With a big piece of her heart residing in the mid-South Coast, she has decided to bring an exciting and educational event to locals as part of her pageant journey. Nonkululeko together with several guest speakers, will be having an acting and modelling drive at the Amandawe Boss Zonke Hall on June 16 from 13:00 to 16:00. The event is expected to show people how to build self-confidence and a strong foundation to achieve big things.

“I want to empower the youth in acting and modelling and teach them to open the right doors and how to avoid being scammed in the industry, and I also want to educate them on gender-based violence and gender equality which are the fields I work with in my NPO,” she said.

“The moment I was presented with that finalist sash, I was so excited and knew that even though I look different, I can still achieve the same things any other woman can, and I will pass this feeling onto those who attend” she said.

The pageant finals will be on October 28 and Nonkululeko encourages locals to vote for her by SMSing Africa 609 to 47439. Voting closes on July 31.
