Trial dates set for five men linked to murder of Dale Kistna and Sphelele Shongwe

They have remained in custody since their arrest.

The case of five men linked to the alleged murder of Dale Kistna (32) and Sphelele Shongwe (24) from Marburg was heard in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday).

Businessman Dane Rangasamy (38), and brothers Vishaan Dharamraj (43) and Rajeeth Dharamraj (47), as well as Mark Naidoo (47) and Mervyn Craig Nadarajan (42) from Saps Crime Intelligence in Port Shepstone, were arrested on December 13, 2022.

They have remained in custody since their arrest.

In May, they applied for bail and are still waiting the court’s judgement on the bail appeal.

The court dates set down for their men’s next appearances are as follows: June 9, then August 14 for indictments to be served.

A pre-trial date has been set down for February 24, 2024 in the Pietermaritzburg High Court and the trial set down for April 24.

Kistna’s decomposed body was found at Msinsini area on February 28 last year.

The skeletal remains of Shongwe were found in the same vicinity in September 2022.
