Locals in combined effort to make tourists feel welcome

Due to the high influx of motorists and tourists entering the South Coast, it was decided by the CPF and Crime Prevention to welcome them.

It was a morning of excitement and enthusiasm for members of Saps, Road Traffic Inspectorate, the Port Shepstone Executive CPF, and South Coast Chamber of Commerce and Industry as they welcomed tourists to the South Coast at the Oribi toll plaza last Friday.

Visitors were welcomed with a colourful banner and were handed bottles of water. Fathima Moosa, secretary of the Port Shepstone Executive CPF said after all the negativity and with the Covid-19 lockdown now over, South Coasters were in a jovial mood at the start of the Easter weekend.

“Saps vehicles were in the front line and the authorities did not leave any stone unturned looking for expired licence discs and driver’s licences.

Due to the high influx of motorists and tourists entering the South Coast, it was decided by the CPF and Crime Prevention to welcome them.

As the South Coast had experienced a decline in the tourism industry, it was to make tourists aware that they are appreciated and welcome to the area,” Moosa added. She said even though the roadblock created some hype, it made the tourists smile.
