Logging a fault after failed power restoration helps

Another failed power restoration was experienced in Park Rynie on Sunday.

Several parts of the mid-South Coast has been experiencing loadshedding with delayed power restoration after the scheduled times. Sometimes going on for an additional two to four hours.

There were cases in December where these faults lasted much longer.

Ward 10 Democratic Alliance councillor, Alan Cutten, stated that the Eskom power restoration after loadshedding is not isolated to this area only as there are a number of areas are being affected.

There was another fault last Sunday where electricity was restored roughly two hours later for most residents in Park Rynie and parts of Scottburgh.

“Eskom has, at times, sent SMS’s to clients informing them of the type of fault that is being repaired, but currently I did not receive any feedback on what caused the fault.”

Most of the time, residents are requested to log a fault with Eskom so it gets their attention. And according to cllr Cutten, this does help.

“The greater the number of reports that Eskom receives the better. It impacts the priority assigned to the fault and can point to the probable causes. This message has been conveyed to residents many times.”

A number of residents have dealt with food wastage during these power restoration faults due to fridges being turned off as well.

“We sympathise with anyone who has lost food due to a power outage as we all know how expensive food is currently,” said cllr Cutten.
“A person may be able to claim from their personal insurance, but I am not aware of any way of claiming from Eskom for lost food.”

Eskom customers can log their faults using the MyEskom Customer App, Alfred the Chatbot, https://csonline.eskom.co.za, or 086 0037566. The customer app and
chatbot are the recommended self-help options. A reference number will be provided, and this is essential for any future communication on the fault.
