Pakistani businessman kidnapped in Sheppie

It was reported on a social media crime group that the kidnappers demanded a substantial amount of money for his return.

There was a lot of hype on Aiken Street, Port Shepstone after a Pakistani businessman was allegedly kidnapped by three armed men at his store yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

Waseem Rustal (31) was forced into a silver Toyota Yaris with a NPS registration.

It was reported on a social media crime group that the kidnappers demanded a substantial amount of money for his return. Friends of Rustal rushed to the scene as soon as they received information that he had been kidnapped.

Police spokesperson, Captain Adam Francis said initial reports from police on the scene indicated that a foreign national was kidnapped by three unknown men at about 08:00 while he was in his store. “They entered the shop and forced the man into a silver Toyota Yaris at gunpoint. Nothing was taken from the store. No shots were fired.”

An appeal was issued to all community policing forums and security companies soon after the incident to be on the look out for the getaway vehicle. A case of kidnapping will be opened at Port Shepstone Saps for further investigation.

It has been reported that Rustal was wearing a white knitted golf shirt and blue jeans at the time he was taken.
