UPDATE: Drive-by shooting leaves three dead

Charges of murder were opened at Port Shepstone police station for investigation.

A brazen drive-by shooting which left three people dead in Oslo Beach last Sunday, has left the South Coast community shaken.

Of concern is that this is the third shooting in just a few weeks.

Nkosinkulu Mlamli (41), a VIP protector and driver for Ngqushwa Municipality and his two passengers were gunned down on Marine Drive at about 10:30.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala said it’s alleged that the victims were seated in their vehicle, when occupants of a vehicle that was behind them opened fire, fatally wounding two women, aged 25, and a man.

“On arrival police were shown a vehicle with three bodies with multiple gunshot wounds.”

Charges of murder were opened at Port Shepstone police station for investigation.

Gwala said the motive for the killing is unknown.

However, talk on the street is that it could be linked to the ongoing taxi violence.

Ngqushwa Municipality’s mayor Sanga Siyabulela said in a statement that it was with great sadness to announce the tragic and untimely passing of their colleague and friend.

“We would also like to acknowledge and thank our friends and colleagues who have embraced us with sympathy and support during this difficult time.”
