Southcity swimmers show prowess at schools’ champs

The top schoolboys and girls competed in the gala.

Alex-Zandré Labuaschagne and Leah Scott of Southcity Christian Schools swam in the SA Schools’ Championship in Gauteng last weekend, where all 11 provinces participated.

The top schoolboys and girls competed in the gala. Leah did exceptionally well, despite being sick, she won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke and placed 5th in the 100m breaststroke.

Alex-Zandré, won five gold medals in the individual events (50m, 100m, 200m freestyle and 50m and 100m backstroke) earning her 50 points, which placed her in the top three, falling short of winning the overall female swimmer due to age group and final points calculations, remarkable for her age.

Alex-Zandré and her KZN relay team member also won four medals for relays: three bronze and one silver.

Well done girls.
