Nice to see Bob Hall back after his holiday and just to prove he had a relaxing time he and the Scottburgh ghost combined to score 67 points in last Wednesday’s game.

Coming two further back were Deanne Jooste and Johan Barnard on 65.

I’m looking for this ghost as he seems to be a good partner, will check his handicap on the website and look him up, he’s always in the prizes.

Oh yes, Dave Sirey and Anton Visage picked up the Stone, something the ghost has never done.

P& G Construction were the sponsors of last Saturday’s betterball and after a week of ‘stillness’ the wind had to pick up.

Have you noticed it’s every Wednesday and Saturday about 11:00, it rears its ugly head.

After last week’s runner-up position, Kevin Ramkisson moved up a place with the help of Thys Swart for a 44 points win.

This was four ahead of second placed Hilton McAuliffe and Coenie du Bruyn on 40 with Wayne Simpson and Mike Hogan being counted out for third spot.

However, the day belonged to Gary Jones, he played the perfect stroke on the fifth to earn himself a maiden hole in one.

So in addition to winning nearest the pin he also took all the 2 club money as is tradition and his 5 points helped him take the hidden holes.

Generous to a fault Gary ‘rang the bell’ also in time honoured tradition.

Bob Hall was nearest the pin on the 10th and Gerrie Hattingh and Alan Hawkins won the Stone.

We wished Darren Walker a fond farewell as after years of study he finally landed himself in the ranks of the employed. He was successful in getting a position as a game ranger in the Kruger National Park.

We wish him all the best as he says he will stand a round with his first pay packet. I’ve never seen pigs fly, but there’s always a first time.

It’s an individual Stableford this Wednesday (16th) and local estate agency Seeff will be sponsoring this Saturday’s (19th) game.

Flyers footnote: In golf, finally it all gets down to the player, the club, the ball and no one else.
