Plenty sporting action at Creston College

Grade 3 learners made posters and presented great orals this week. They all learnt about the blue whale, black widow spider, Red Sea, white light and banana farming.

Creston College’s Group 5s had their first taste of show and tell last week, in keeping with the theme of ‘Our House’.

The children were asked to bring a special toy or book from home to share with their friends.

Winners per grade in the JP Interhouse Gala were Juliette D’Arcy and Rocco Verster in Grade 1, Amber Scheepers and Kaden Knott in Grade 2 and Scarlett Bunge and Andrew Stott in Grade 3.

The winning house was Falcon.

At the JP relay gala which was held at Southcity, Creston College finished second (78 points) behind Southcity (80 points).

Congratulations to Simanye Manonato, Loyiso Ndamase and Oliver Smith on being selected for the U11 Ugu District Cricket Union to attend KZN trials this weekend (March 11 to 13).

Sibulele Ngcaku and Jorgia-Lee Thomas took part in the KZN Champs recently. Sibulele came second in the 150m boys U12 division and Jorgia placed second in the 100m girls heat, but she unfortunately did not get to proceed further.

Creston’s first cricket team had two games against Hoërskool Suid-Natal last week, where they beat Suid-Natal in the T20 on Thursday with captain Jyhdesh Naidoo top scoring with 64 runs.

Unfortunately, Creston lost to Suid-Natal in the 50 over game on Saturday which was also its last game of the season.

Oliver Delport came second in the 100m butterfly at the KZN School trials at Kings Park swimming pool in Durban and may therefore be eligible for the KZN school team.

The senior dramatic arts learners went to see a performance of ‘A Doll’s House’, written by Henrik Ibsen at the Bat Centre in Durban last Thursday.

Everyone was so excited to be able to go on an excursion again and to see a live performance.

The play is a Grade 11 set work, so the opportunity to see it was one Creston did not want to miss.
