New principal appointed at Marburg Secondary

Govender is also an avid sports fan and is relishing taking on the new challenges that come with being principal.

Colin Govender was recently appointed as principal of Marburg Secondary School.

Govender was formerly the Deputy Principal at Roseville Secondary in Umzinto. He is an Afrikaans and mathematical literacy specialist and has served as a Deputy Chief marker in Afrikaans for the National Senior Certificate examinations for several years.

Govender is also an avid sports fan and is relishing taking on the new challenges that come with being principal. He has stated that he would like to establish himself in Port Shepstone and would like to relocate to Port Shepstone in the future.

Marburg Secondary also has two new Departmental Heads. Motheelal Harcharan and Dheshni Naidoo were appointed Departmental Heads for mathematics and sciences respectively.

Harcharan is a senior mathematics literacy educator and has served as Deputy Chief marker for mathematics literacy over the years.

Naidoo is a physical sciences and natural sciences educator. She held the Departmental Head of Sciences in an acting capacity until being appointed in a permanent capacity at the end of 2021. Naidoo has also marked physics and chemistry National Senior Certificate examination papers over the years.

The staff, learners and governing body of the school would like to wish Govender, Harcharan and Naidoo well in their new positions.
