Ray Nkonyeni Municipality roadblock welcomes tourists

Visitors to the area were given a warm welcome.

With the festive season here, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) along with Ugu South Coast Tourism held the annual mayor’s welcome in Hibberdene on Wednesday this week.

As holidaymakers from around the country made their way to the South Coast, members of RNM law enforcement staged a roadblock on the Hibberdene off-ramp just off the N2, to give them a lovely sunshine filled South Coast welcome, and a goodie bag with summer essentials.

The Koen family all the way from Edenvale in Johannesburg were excited to be welcomed by RNM speaker Zondwa Mzindle (right) at the Hibberdene off-ramp.

Although RNM is yet to announce a mayor, speaker Zodwa Mzindle was in attendance to welcome tourists.

“We enjoy welcoming our tourists at this time of year, and we want to ensure they have an amazing experience and enjoy their stay. We would like to advise them to stay safe with the looming fourth wave of Covid-19, listen to all officials on the beaches, avoid drinking in public, but mostly enjoy their stay,” Mzindle said.

Cars arrived from all over the country yesterday, ready to kick off their summer holiday on the South Coast, the paradise of KZN.

Amongst others in attendance was the HOD for strategic planning and governance for RNM, Siyabonga Zama, who was more than delighted to start the summer off.

“Our tourists must enjoy themselves and and feel the warmth of KZN’s paradise. Be safe and avoid overly congested areas, and if our visitors need any information, they can visit any of our information bars in our malls and at our beachfronts”.
