An Umdoni cleanup campaign, initiated by Umdoni Municipality commenced yesterday (July 15) in the CBD.
Municipal officials, such as Mayor Sibongile Khathi, joined forces with her colleagues, local councilors, the business sector and members of the community to tidy up the town after it was hit hard by protest action, rioting and looting earlier this week.
Numerous shops were extensively damaged by protesters and looters, and several buildings were burnt. The dedicated cleanup team was able to make a big difference in just a day by cleaning up taxi ranks, streets and, of course, the many shops affected.
The municipality extends their gratitude to all who assisted in making a difference today.
