Recovery centre visits Amandawe community

The organisation had a lot of success from its first tournament resulting in the need for a second one.

Following the success from its last addiction awareness soccer tournament on Youth Day, Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery hosted yet another soccer tournament last weekend, but in Amandawe this time, for people of all ages.

“We were there to pass the message of recovery to the entire community by using sport as a medium once again,” said the recovery center’s chairman, Emmanuel Msomi.

The organisation had a lot of success from its first tournament resulting in the need for a second one.

This latest tournament and addiction awareness campaign was closer to Emmanuel’s heart than other campaigns were as Amandawe is his home town.

“This is my home and seeing my people show me so much respect was amazing,” he said.

“Whether they choose to start their journey of recovery or not, I appreciate all the support they showed me and the organisation on the day.”

Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery is going to use the month of July as a drug awareness month to carry messages of strength and hope throughout South Africa, as well as offer help to addicts.

“We will be touching the lives of many people in suburbs, townships, cities, squatter camps, you name it,” said Emmanuel. “Get ready for recovery this month.”
