PROTEST UPDATE: Huge crowd blocks road in Port Edward [WATCH]

Police are advising the motorists to use alternate routes.

Police have confirmed that about 400 people took to the road in the early hours of the morning and used rocks and logs to block the road.

Protest action erupted yesterday (Monday) morning until today (Tuesday) in the area of KwaNzimakwe.

The protesters blockaded all the entrances of the N2 from the area.

Police spokesman Captain Nqobile Gwala said the N2 between Munster and Port Edward is currently inaccessible due to debris placed on the road.

Port Shepstone Public Order Police is monitoring the situation.

There is an abandoned vehicle that was set alight last night.
