Update: Missing couple rescued from Umtamvuna Nature Reserve

The couple had been reported missing yesterday afternoon.

The missing couple has been found, safe and sound.
 
Glen Preston of Med-Evac said members from Med-Evac and Saps K9 Search and Rescue hiked the same trail the couple had done the previous day in search of them.

This was after the AirTrack 101 helicopter spent a hour is the sky searching. 
 
“Due to thick vegetation we were unable to locate them,” he added.

However, it was on the trail that the team finally located the couple, and managed to hike them out to a safe clearing, part way up the cliffs. 
 
“We then called in the Airtrack 101 helicopter to assist and airlift the two to the ​​Joint Operations Committee for medical assessment,” said Mr Preston. 
 
He confirmed that everyone involved in the rescue operation was safe, and that the couple had been reunited with family.
