Murder accused (78) appears in court

He is currently out on bail, with conditions.

A 78-year-old man, dressed in a smart black and white suit, appeared in the Port Shepstone Regional Court last Thursday.

The pensioner is facing a murder charge after a woman, aged 70, was found dead in the bath at her home in Ramsgate on Sunday, April 21 at around 6pm.

The case was postponed to May 13, for purposes of a plea.

He is currently out on bail, with conditions.

“Police responded and found the woman in a bath tub of water. She had a cut wound on her neck. There were three kitchen knives next to the bath tub,” said spokesman Sergeant Sibu Ncane.

At the time the man was arrested and charged for murder, and detained in Margate police custody.

Attorneys Robin Petterson and Sue Ann Stander are acting for the accused.
