Izotsha intersection closed due to protest

Protesters are now threatening to close intersections near the Southcoast Mall.

About 300 protesters from Nyandezulu, Bomela and Betania have marched to Izotsha robots where they are burning tyres.

They are requesting Ugu Deputy Mayor, Siphumlile Mthiyane to address them since she is aware of the situation and had promised them to sort out water issues before.

The main reason why they closed the road is non-delivery of water, some parts of these areas have not had water for six months.

The protest started early this morning and they are now threatening to march down to Southcoast Mall.

“We have wasted too much time standing here waiting for Ugu but no one has showed up.”

Even though parts of Betania woke up to full pressure of water from their taps they believe it is just to calm them down for a few days.

SAPS as well as Law Enforcement are on scene.
