Gone fishing: Jai Hind Primary stalwart retires

Mr Moodley has a rich, long and proud history of sporting involvement as a player, coach and official.

Jai Hind Primary’s icon has decided to replace his timetable with a tide chart and to fill his period slots with fishing instead of mathematics.

Jai Hind Primary bid a sad farewell to its workaholic deputy principal, Mr Teddy Moodley, following 38 years of meritorious service to the education profession and the community in general.

Many see this as a great loss to the school and education field as his shoes are hard to fill in the new dispensation.

Retiring with an almost perfect attendance record, Mr Moodley was the epitome of absolute dedication, efficiency and commitment in whatever he did.

Renowned for his punctuality and humility, Mr Moodley was often the first to arrive and the last to leave the school.

He very often sacrificed his time and weekends to ensure that the school was clean and in order.

Mr Moodley’s motto is, “Holier are the hands that serve than the lips that preach”.

He certainly displayed this quality as an educator and manager of Jai Hind Primary.

Mr Moodley initiated and spearheaded numerous community projects such as the Annual Bread of Heaven Fun Run, Jeeva Naidoo Accident Fund, Keshivan Govender Medical Fund as well as numerous other charitable causes and projects.

This multiple Comrades Marathon and Two Oceans Marathon runner was also actively involved in numerous codes of sport such as soccer, volleyball, swimming and athletics.

He had promoted fishing amongst learners and held successful fishing competitions for them.

Mr Moodley has a rich, long and proud history of sporting involvement as a player, coach and official.

He was actively involved in numerous sporting clubs such as the Marburg Saints, Paragon Legends, Port Shepstone Volleyball Association, Far South Football Association, KZN Volleyball, Kwanaloga Games and many more.

During his retirement, Mr Moodley intends spending a lot more quality time with his immediate family and close friends.

There is a lot of travelling within South Africa and a few international holiday destinations on his bucket list.

The principal, staff and governing body of Jai Hind Primary congratulate the legendary Mr Moodley on his well-deserved retirement and wish him good health, happiness and prosperity in his retirement years.
