Umdoni declared a Covid-19 hotspot

The municipality has warned people to avoid gatherings, personal contact and touching of the eyes, nose and mouth.

Umdoni Municipality‘s communications department recently announced that Umdoni has been identified as a Covid-19 hotspot within the Ugu District.

There have been a number of deaths in the area lately and municipal officials urge residents to continue following protocol in order to flatten the curve and save lives.

People are asked to continue practicing social distancing, washing hands, sanitising and wearing masks.

The municipality has warned people to avoid gatherings, personal contact and touching of the eyes, nose and mouth.

Communities are reminded that the usage of masks in public spaces is compulsory.

Should anyone be caught without a mask, they could face up to six months in jail or receive a fine.
