Man sentenced to 18 years in jail for raping boy (11)

Mthembeni Sigwebela (24) has been sentenced by the Ezinqoleni Magistrate’s Court to 18 years behind bars after he was convicted of raping his young neighbor two years ago.

According to Margate police spokesman, Sergeant Sibu Ncane, Sigwebela, from Kwa-Machi, Harding, repeatedly raped the boy (11) after calling him to his house.

The assault was halted by a knock on the door and Sigwebela instructed the boy to jump out of the window.

The boy ran home, where he told his grandmother what had happened.

Sigwebela was apprehended in Harding.

Detective Sergeant Sello Pakkies of Harding detective branch was the investigating officer and was pleased at the sentence handed to the rapist.
