Ugu blames N2 road closure for today’s lack of water in Izingolweni and Harding

According to Ugu, municipal services were disrupted by a protest next to Empini Store at Ezingolweni.

Ugu has said it was unable to provide water to thirsty Izingolweni and Harding community members today (Tuesday, August 18) due to strike action on the N2 highway.

According to Ugu, municipal services were disrupted by a protest which took place next to Empini Store at Ezingolweni, believed to be about the lack of water in the area.

“The services of water tankers transporting water from Umtamvuna to surrounding areas of Izingolweni and Harding were halted until the N2 to Harding was cleared.

“Municipal leadership has today met with the protesting members of the community and collected a memorandum of demands which is currently receiving attention,” spokesman France Zama said in a statement.
