Scottburgh was recently declared one of Ugu District’s Covid-19 hotspots by KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala.
Over the past several weeks however, people have been going about their day-to-day routines much as they did before the pandemic began.
Scottburgh Saps have noticed this and communications officer, Captain Adam Francis, has issued a fresh appeal to the community to start taking the lockdown regulations more seriously.

Community members are expected to adhere to the following:
• Recreational and commercial fishermen must comply with Covid-19 regulations while at the beach. Make use of personal protective equipment and practice social distancing.
• Swimming and sun bathing are not permitted at beaches. Only professional surfers are allowed to be in the water.
• Social gatherings and outings in public parking and on the beach are strictly prohibited.
• It is mandatory for taxi drivers and passengers to wear masks while travelling.
• People are not allowed to be out of their homes or travel between 10pm and 4am unless engaged in an essential service task.
• An urgent plea is made to the public to only leave their homes for essential matters and for work purposes.
• Practice social distancing and to wear a mask. Do not forget that wearing of masks in public is compulsory.
