There have been concerns that Port Shepstone Saps is operational despite a positive Covid-19 case at the station.
However, Brigadier Jay Naicker of the provincial police media centre confirmed: “A police officer from Port Shepstone Saps tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, July 3. The affected offices were decontaminated as per Saps protocols.”

He said a control list was being kept of all positive cases and of those in isolation.
“Primary decontamination/sanitisation of the station and the cells occurs on a weekly basis. Port Shepstone Saps is working hand-in-hand with the unions and Employee Health and Wellness to provide the relevant assistance to members.”
He also reiterated that the necessary contingency plans were put in place when members tested positive.
