Father and daughter attacked in Palmview home

Security company officers managed to subdue the suspect and hand him over to police.

A woman (42)  and her father (80) were attacked in their Ferndale Road home in Palmview on Tuesday morning this week, allegedly by a 35-year-old man known to the family who then also set the house alight.

Neighbours gathered in the street as security officers, fire fighters and policemen converged on the scene. The woman was stabbed in the body and her father was struck on the face and head. Both were taken to hospital.

“Security company officers managed to subdue the suspect and hand him over to police,” said Port Shepstone Saps spokesman, Captain Petros Mpinge.

Capt Mpinge said the man will be charged with two counts of attempted murder as well as one count of arson. He is expected to appear in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court soon.

The reason for the attack is unknown at this stage.
