Umdoni Municipality closes offices for Covid-19 lockdown

Essential municipal services have been exempted from the lockdown.

Umdoni Municipality and other municipal offices will close from tomorrow, Thursday  March 26 to April 16 following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus.

Essential services exempted from the lockdown include municipal services such as disaster management and fire services, traffic and policing, waste management, street sweeping (selected staff), maintenance (selected staff), cemeteries (selected staff) and roads (selected grader operators).

Umdoni Municipality’s heads of departments will also be on standby.

“Customers who wish to pay for municipal services can do so through Easy Pay, supermarkets and at the bank,” said communications manager, Sphelele Cele.

“All customer care queries shall be addressed through the 24-hour Fire and Disaster helpline at 039-9741061.”
