The end of the school year is upon us. Congratulations to all parents, pupils and teachers who survived the year reasonably sane. You now have some time to regroup and prepare to do it all again next year.

The Italian Club is holding a New Year’s Eve dinner/dance on December 31 at 8 for 8.30pm. A three-course meal will be served. Background music will be played until 10.30pm, after which the volume will be pumped up until midnight.

St Paul’s Anglican Church, corner of Cordiner and Williamson Streets, Scottburgh, is holding a Christmas market on December 7 from 9am to 1pm. There will be a tea garden, boerie rolls, homemade items and many other stalls.

The SPCA is in need of help for volunteers for Christmas wrapping at Scottburgh Mall on December 12 to 16 from 9am to 1pm and 1pm to 5pm, and December 17 to 24 from 9am to 2pm and 2pm to 7pm. Pennington locals have been working extremely hard towards a really special event to raise funds to support the treatment of childhood cancer. A Party of Hope is being held at The Cottage Restaurant on December 7 at 11am.

There will be lots of cupcakes, entertainment for the children, raffles and a loads of fun. Please support this worthy cause. For more information contact Annuschka at 072 8776738.

The roads – oh, the roads! Eddie Baptie organised to deliver grit and rash to some sites on Monday this week (Park Rynie depot, Baracouta Benda entrance and Relton Hall).

Bitumen drums will be delivered and containers and stampers will be available on December 3 for those who requested. Cones will be provided when received.

This is for members of the public who are keen to help fix roads where they live. It has become apparent that the people are going to have to make a difference and there’s a whole host of us keen to get involved. This was discussed at a recent meeting held in Pennington. I think Pennington folk rock!

A fun fund-raiser was held at The Doghouse for Making A Difference rescue (MAD) and it was very well supported. Please contact David Hardwick at 078 7929911 for adoption details.
