But in true showbiz tradition, the show went on. `Some Enchanted Evening’ the July supper theatre offering was staged last Saturday evening as the popular impresario would not have wanted to cancel or postpone the show.

Many South Coasters have been saddened to hear about her death. Liz and her late husband Jim owned the Sunlawns Hotel for many years and it soon became the entertainment hub for locals.

The bingo bashes and beetle drives they hosted were legendary.

After Jim’s death, Liz sold the hotel and moved to Margate Retirement Village. Her incredible organisational skills were soon noted and she was co-opted onto the RAC committee and was soon voted in as chairman. Being an impresario is a role she relished and South Coasters were the richer for her having accepted it as she brought wonderful shows to the Azalea Hall.

Her memorial service will take place at the Ronnie Baker Hall at the village, this Friday (2nd) at 10am.
